CRISPR Screening IDs Factors for Turning Stem Cells into Neurons

A faster, more precise method of cell reprogramming has been developed using a form of CRISPR activation screening. To demonstrate the technique, which incorporates deactivated Cas9–based gene activation, scientists identified many known and previously uncharacterized transcription factors that cause stem cells to mature into neurons.
