Handstanding Rabbits Help Scientists Identify Gene for Jumping

A single gene mutation is enough to prevent rabbits from moving around by jumping, researchers in Portugal and Sweden have found. Their studies in an unusual strain of domesticated rabbit that can’t jump—but can get about like an acrobat walking on their hands—pinpointed the animals’ inability to hop like regular rabbits to a mutation in the transcription factor gene RORB.
