Vaccine Study Explores COVID-19 and Autoimmune Disease

The NIH launched a study, “COVID‐19 Booster Vaccine in Autoimmune Disease Non‐Responders,” to investigate giving extra doses of a COVID-19 vaccine to people with autoimmune disease. The trial will also investigate whether pausing immunosuppressive therapy for autoimmune disease improves the antibody response to an extra dose of the vaccine. Study participants will be followed for 13 months and preliminary results are expected this November.
